(More customer reviews)I like the looks of this tool. It's comfortable, and the handle lets you get a lot of leverage. It's nice in loose garden soil, but it's not sturdy enough for compacted soil. I bent mine soon after I started using it on the dandelions in my lawn.
UPDATE: I made use of the warranty and got a new one. I've been more careful with it and it's performing well. I'd give it a couple more stars now, but I can't seem to change that part of my review.

(More customer reviews)Having read the negative review of the person from Tucson, I was wary of buying this tool. I wasn't sure if the blade was large enough or strong enough to work through the many rocks in my soil.
I need a tool that can be aimed fairly precisely at the root... digging in my gravelly soil is difficult with a shovel and I have plants near the weeds that I don't want to disturb. The weeds... mostly mature yellow dock with deep, sometimes huge and tough tap roots.
The weeder is working beautifully for me. The workmanship of the tool is high quality, built to last, and, even in my wicked soil, it looks like it will never bend. It is designed for ease of handling, and succeeds.
Yes, the slippery roots can elude the weeder, partly because they can take surprising twists and turns. But I've had a lifetime of gardening and, with a little patience with him/herself, the good gardener in Tucson might discover other ways of teasing out the root without resorting to plunging it in repeatedly. One suggestion - when you miss the root, you can usually see where it went and twist the tool while it's still in the ground. By watching the movement of the weed above ground, you can usually see if you are getting closer.
I highly recommend this weeder.

(More customer reviews)I own this product. While the handle should be longer (a full 6 feet would be best)it is longer than most long-handled tools. The interchangeable head is great. I have the cultivator and the flat push-pull weeder. Be sure to bend your legs, adopt a wide-stance, keeping your knees over your feet and use your legs while using this tool as you move backward. Instead of just using your arms rock back and forth using your legs and scoot back as you hoe. Your back and shoulders will thank you the next morning. Also, if you're ambitious, alternate raking stance from right to left every 5 - 10 minutes. Again, your body will thank you the next morning. I've been hoeing like this since 1992 and you won't believe the difference it makes.

(More customer reviews)What a fantastic product the Uproot Weeder has turned out to be: a great time and effort saver! It is sturdy, well-designed, and easy to use. Half an hour of work and my back yard is not unlike a touch-and-go alien landing site. We are not talking divots: we are talking holes [apparently huge weeds have huge roots]. But weeds: you are my b****es; I smite you with my Q-38 Explosive Space Modulating Fiskar UpRoot Weeder! My only worry now is criminals falling in the holes without punji sticks and suing me. That and the aliens returning. But holy object of undetermined authenticity is that thing making short-work of these weedy interlopers! Record time and record lack of soreness. Not that I actually keep records of such things. Certainly not quantifiable records. Regardless, definitely the best money I've spent on yard maintenance tools.

(More customer reviews)In my efforts of going green I purchased this product to help loosen dirt and for weeding. I had never used on of these before, so I was a bit leary. It really works well on weeds, even if the weeds are getting pretty tall, the mini claw helps to loosen the dirt around the roots, so you can pull them clean away with the whole root attached. I'm disabled, so I have to use this sitting down, and it is the perfect size for me. I'd purchase this item again, so I would encourage family and friends to get one as well.
