Tales of Natural and Unnatural Catastrophes Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)My only exposure to Highsmith prior to reading this book is Hitchcock's Strangers on a Train, which I loved. But somehow I can't believe the same person wrote them, as these stories hardly leave an impression me like Strangers on a Train did. The style reminds me of Catch-22 by Joseph Heller--a sort of mad-hatter of absurdities--which held me initially with a few painful chuckles, but it got old quickly if the story was too long.
Overall, I was not impressed by this particular work, but I am intrigued enough by what I've read to see her talent used in a different direction.

(More customer reviews)Islamic terrorists strike the U.S. again, but this time it's in Texas. FBI special agents Don Veron and Rick Tiller get involved and are in hot pursuit of those responsible. Simultaneously, a mystery man only known as "David" has an agenda of his own and has hired an ex-Special Forces soldier to assist in accomplishing his personal revenge. Floyd does an excellent job of smoothly connecting the reader with multiple characters. If you like stories that keep you wanting more, give this one a read.

No One Is Innocent (Jasmine Myers Mysteries) Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)Author Gayle Tiller's mystery 'No One Is Innocent' is not just a nuts and bolts kind of mystery.
I really enjoyed Tiller's lively writing style. Jasmine Myers, the detective, is a woman who is driven. She is smart, funny, and witty, but she is not perfect. She has a drinking problem and yet, she wants to have a kid.
Jasmine's ex-husband who just got married wants her back. The mystery resolves the death of community activist Kristal Wood's husband, Ralph Woods who is the president of the San Jose Black Firefighters.

Jasmine is hired by Kristal who has an ego bigger than the Grand Canyon. Kristal is no saint. However, there is something very vulnerable about her. Two other firefighters die and Kristal is charged with all three murders.
No One Is Innocent is a top of the line mystery/thriller. I literally could not stop reading. I can't wait for Gayle Tiller's next book.

Since California and most states use the money to supplement their schools, it's going to be a hard job. Diane has to find a good reason for keeping her name from the media. She immediately begins searching for ways to keep it quiet.
24 HOUR LOTTERY an interesting story and brought up a lot of information that most citizens don't have when it comes to winning the lottery. It was informative and slightly mysterious as the reader waits for the final outcome. Emma, Diane, and the judge's characteristics were well developed. The book kept you on the edge of your chair while you waited for the outcome. It was definitely worth reading.
