(More customer reviews)Taiho Jutsu are techniques which include arm locks, wrist locks, restraint holds, throws, pressure points, and the use of various weapons. These techniques were often taught to police officers in Japan to control resisting subjects. The author, Tak Kubota, is known internationally as a karate and weapons expert. He has taught police agencies in Japan and in the United States. I also had the pleasure (and lots of pain) of training under Master Kubota in his Kubotan instructor courses back in 1980. The book covers a lot of material that could be of use to police officers; however, like any psychomotor skill programs, many hours of practice are needed to master the material. Nevertheless, this book if used in conjuction with actual hands-on training with a qualified defensive tactics instructor, will help students to learn the material.
In conclusion, this is a book that will be of value to both students and instructors of police defensive tactics.
